Mike Scott is running for Ivins City Council

I was elected to the Ivins City Council for the first time in November 2021 and will serve a four-year term. My number one goal is to involve Ivins residents early in the City’s decision-making process. Providing information is an important first step, so I post articles on current Ivins issues on this website, Nextdoor, and Facebook. The views expressed in these articles are my personal views only.

Please tell me about Ivins issues you are concerned about. CONTACT ME. Individually we are smart. Together, as a community, we are brilliant.

I served on the Ivins Planning Commission for 10 years; helped create the Ivins Arts Commission at the Mayor’s request; created the Ivins Night Sky Initiative and the No Helicopter Landings campaign, and helped create the Tuacahn Foundation.

Some of my other community activities included sponsoring an art competition at Vista School for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade art students, partnering with Lyman Whittaker to provide 39 wind sculptures for the Veterans Home, and helping the Center for the Arts at Kayenta get a new dance floor.

My wife Patty and I owned a real estate market research and consulting business for more than twenty years, working mostly from Ivins, but also from Seattle. During that time, I taught real estate economics, spoke at educational seminars, and our research was published regionally and nationally.

I like to hike, bike, cross country ski, travel, cook, enjoy plays and live concerts (especially jazz), and I am a movie buff. We have been proud residents of Ivins since 2003. Here are a few photos of us enjoying the outdoors.
